Wow – 3 mores nest after we went to bed……

A fairly late night for me last night as I just wasn’t ready for bed….. I went out around 23:20 for my last cigarette….. and scanned the beach looking for new turtles or nests….. nadda….. just the roar of waves coming in on the beach. Woke up at my usual time (06:15)…. got all the usual morning stuff out of the way and strolled out to more clouds than sun….. and THREE new diggings~!  That is a total of 4 in one night. I guess I need to do some more home work on the nesting habits of these particular turtles… as I thought we were long past nesting…… guess that’s what I get for thinking……… Our beach looks like something off of a D-Day movie….. it is amazing the amount of sand these big beauties are moving. That makes 18 diggings we have on our beach now — we have nests on top of nests, on top of nests…… it is getting real hard to track where they are all at now. One thing is for sure though — even if only half of the diggings are actual nests — we should have close to 400 – 500 little turtles popping out in the next month or so….. That will be absolutely amazing to watch and I can’t wait to get some pictures for you all.

I took off a hair before 09:00 and headed up to Blues to finish the last of the lumber on the fence. Knocked it out in short order, stayed and had a beer and chatted with Jim for a little bit before coming back to a magnificent breakfast of biscuits and gravy my Queen had whooped up. She out done herself this time…. best gravy she has made in quite some time….. and I took serious advantage of it. I should be ashamed of the amount of it I shoveled in….. but I don’t care — DAMN it was good……!!  With my belly way past full — I stretched out on the couch for some serious TV time and let my belly wallow in the self satisfying gluttony of that breakfast. We watched a couple of movies….. we have seen them both before, but bore watching again…… We watched until Judge Judy came on – finished those two episodes and my Queen got up to make supper….. I headed out to the beach for more leveling……. (I had to work off some of that biscuits and gravy)…. I spent an hour out there getting the 2 biggest holes filled and leveled. Also managed to scrape some more skin off of my hand using the shovel and rake…. delicate little feller that I have become…….I felt the need to level off those big ones…. because it is where we are expecting our first hatchlings to pop up – and rather than dig up through 2′-3′ of sand to get out, they were gonna have 6′ of sand…. so I now have it leveled back out and they should be able to make it out now.  Can’t hardly wait to see if we have even more diggings in the morning~! I’ll happily keep the place leveled out for them~!!

Good night Ya’ll —– Thankx for stopping in~!

Heading back out to the Sea

Born in Germany as an Army brat - I moved permanently to the United States about the time I was ready to start school - Dad put to me to work when I turned 13 tearing off roofs and packing shingles.. I did that, DE tasseled corn and bucked hay all the way through high school. After graduation, moved down South for a year or so trying to figure what I wanted to do. Finally came home and joined the Air Force serving almost 5 years - which included a 3 year tour in Germany, where I met my Queen. Came home and started working as a roofer. Economy went to crap and I knew I would not be able to support my growing family the way I wanted to, so I pestered the HR department at General Electric until they hired me. A very quick almost 34 years, 4 Daughters and 9 Grandkids later - here I am .... waiting as patiently as I can, to start the next chapter of our life - romping around in the Caribbean Sea checking out the various islands that we have not been to yet. Holy $hit what a ride~!!!! ;-)
